Devotional Thought:

Tonto and the Lone Ranger were riding through a canyon together, when all of a sudden both sides were filled with Indian warriors on horses, dressed for battle. The Lone Ranger turned to Tonto and asked, “What are we going to do?” Tonto replied, “What you mean ‘we,’ Paleface?”

There are no Lone Rangers in the Bible. The great people of faith had others who were crucial to their success. Joshua had Caleb to help him lead the Israelites into the Promised Land. David had Joab to help him defeat Israel’s enemies. Daniel had Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego to help him to remain undefiled and not eat the King’s food. Paul had Barnabas, Silas, Timothy, Luke, Epaphras and more. Even Jesus worked in a team!

Luke 8:1-3 “Soon afterward he went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with him, and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod’s household manager, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their means.”

Jesus had the twelve apostles (v. 1) who He was training to be the leaders of the church, and He also had some women (v. 2) who were providing for His ministry financially. I’m sure Jesus could have accomplished His ministry alone, but He chose to work with people and even depend on people to accomplish His ministry on earth. He still chooses to accomplish His mission by using people today. Jesus has chosen to use us to make disciples of all nations.

Michelle, Elijah and Virginia (Our baby girl’s name if you didn’t already know) are physically moving to KC to plant a church and make disciples. But beginning a church from nothing is too big of a task for one family. That’s why we are grateful for your prayers and your financial partnership. You are just as important in the planting of the church as we are. A Church is birthed by a team. So thank you for joining the team and helping plant a church!
