New News!
When Michelle and I moved to Kansas City, we knew God was inviting us to be part of something bigger—a movement of planting churches that make disciples. We chose New City Shawnee as our Sending Church because of their passion for multiplication—they’ve already planted five churches—and their unique disciple-making pathway.
We stepped into the roles of church planting resident and connections minister for a new church New City was launching in the western part of the metro. In just seven preview gatherings, we’ve seen God move powerfully—an average of 68 people attending and five people already baptized!
We’re incredibly honored to have been asked to pastor this new church plant, and we believe this is just the beginning. In August, we’ll be joined by another church planting resident as we dream about planting even more churches in the future.
While we don’t have an official name yet, we’re currently calling ourselves New City West. Thank you for the love, support, and prayers that have brought us to this exciting point.
What does this mean for Church Planting?
- We are still planting a Church!
- This Church Plant is now connected to the North American Mission Board and New City Church. This allows us more support with administrative needs and frees Michelle and I to focus on ministry.
- We still get to make disciples! Which is our heart.
- We have a launch team of 68 people who act as church planters themselves.
- We have a staff of a Worship Leader, Student Leader, Kid Leader, First Impressions and Connections.
- We are still raising our own support, this is a new Church.
- We still NEED prayer!
Why The Change?
We are not changing, completely. But we saw God working in this church and they had everything they needed for a church, except a Pastor. We saw God working in their midst. Five new baptisms and almost one hundred people have attended. People in this community are feeling called to start a new church. Michelle and I had to pray and discern if we were also being invited by God to join Him in this new adventure. After much prayer we do believe God is calling us to help lead this plant as the Planting Pastor.
